ABOUT

Mike Smith is an award-winning Filmmaker and Post-Production professional based in Los Angeles, California.

Hailing from a town in New Jersey you’ve probably never heard of, Mike fell in love with filmmaking at a young age. When he was 8 years old, he became infatuated with Steven Spielberg’s LEGO Studios Moviemaker Set, which taught him how to build worlds, dream big, and fostered a passion for the technology behind visual storytelling.

Mike has been with White Horse Pictures since 2021, wearing many different hats. As the Head of Post, he brings innovation to the day-to-day production and post-production workflows — prioritizing collaboration, security and tools that enhance productivity and creativity. As the Post Producer and Supervisor on documentaries such as the Emmy award-winning THE BEACH BOYS (Disney+) and the upcoming UNTITLED FLEETWOOD MAC DOCUMENTARY (Apple TV+), Mike works closely with producers and stakeholders, and leads teams of freelance editorial and post-production professionals to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. And as an assistant editor on Emmy award-winning documentaries like LUCY AND DESI (Amazon Studios), Mike executes each project’s creative vision with attention to detail and an eye for story.

Independently, Mike consulted on the Robert Zemeckis feature HERE (Sony Pictures), spearheading a subclip workflow and database to feed the de-aging deepfake model used throughout the film.

Mike received his degree in Cinema & Media Studies from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. While attending USC, he co-founded the production company Zephyr Entertainment with his peers, and went on to produce, direct and edit award-winning short films, music videos, web series and branded content.
